The graphic interface and the settings of your pc could be different from the ones taken back here. For this reason you refer to the manual of your mother card for greater information and specific settings.
ON-CHIP SERIAL ATA SETTING [Enable/Disable]
Alternative name: Serial ATA Controller, ON-CHIP SERIAL ATA
With this option you can turn on or turn off the controller S-ATA (Serial ATA) integrated in the motherboard.
ONBOARD IEEE 1394 CONTROLLER [Enable/Disable]
With this voice you can turn on or turn off then Firewire interface (IEEE 1394) installed on the motherboard.
SPEECH POST REPORTER [Enable/Disable]
This function turn on the speech report of the error of the motherboard. The system can use vocal message to describe error.
Onboard IDE-1 (2) Controller [Enabled/Disabled]
This setting enables or disables the IDE controller primary (or secondary) supplemented in the mother card. Each of these two controllers can lodge two units (as hard disk, reader CD-ROM/DVD, masterizzatore), one as master and one as Slav, for a total of four. For these peripherals the next settings which for simplicity were not ripeture twice are worth. If you do not have any IDE peripheral to be connected to one of the controllers, you can deactivate this last one. This way system resources will be freed, between which an IRQ (Interrupt ReQuest), and the problems of session closing of the operating system will be reduced.
ATTENTION: before deactivating supplemented one or both the controllers deactivating them before from the inside of the operating system is good rule. For the microsoft operating systems that is possible through System Property, peripheral management, rigid disc controller and deactivate one or both the IDE channels. Furthermore verify that this setting is activated if you run into problems of installation of the operating system, some driver of the mother card or if however you imbattate in unknown problems.
Master (Slave) Drive PIO Mode [Auto/0/1/2/3/4]
This option checks the mode of transfer of the rigid disc connected as (Slav) masters. Set up on car without than having the problems with the operating system, with disc defective units or obsolete.
Master (Slave) Drive Ultra DMA [Auto/Disabled]
This option chooses if making automatically recognize or deactivate the DMA (Direct Memory Access) mode for the the unity connected as (Slav) masters. Set up on car without than having the problems with the operating system, with defective units or obsolete. The DMA mode entrusts a dedicated processor the operations of reading and writing from and towards the memory, leaving more I free the processor principal and therefore obtaining a greater speed of all the system. The DMA mode, if activated also in the operating system, allows to obtain some very high performances. However if the driver for the controllers are not suitable or not sufficiently brought up to date, the system could go in block preventing the loading of the operating system.
IDE Prefetch Mode [Enabled/Disabled]
This option is able to improve the performances of the units, especially for the rigid disc units. When it is activated, it recalls in advance the data or the crops of programs from the rigid disc, so as to reduce the cycles of wait of the processor. What is taken in advance comes partially allocated in the cache fast memories, so as to optimize to the maximum the performances of the microprocessor, which should otherwise fernarsi of continuos to await that the disc units finished their operations. If in the system there is also an only slow unity what it does not support the prefetch, this option should be deactivated not to compromise the performances of the fastest units.
Init Display First [PCI/AGP]
When in the system is installed more than one card graphics, this option chooses what of two (PCI or AGP) must be the principal one and therefore send the images on the screen. If in the system an only graphic card is present, this option does not have importance.
USB Controller [Enabled/Disabled]
This option activates or the controller deactivates for the supplemented potre USB (Universal Serial bus). If you do not have any USB peripheral to be connected to the pc, you can deactivate this option. This way system resources will be freed, between which an IRQ (Interrupt ReQuest), and the problems of session closing of the operating system will be reduced.
ATTENTION: some mother cards are able to enable the IRQ Sharing ( condivisione IRQ ) only if the controller is activated for the USB doors. Verify that this setting is activated if you run into problems of installation of the operating system, some driver of the mother card or if however you imbattate in problems apparently not workable.
USB Keyboard support [Bios/OS]
This setting shows under what control must reside an USB possible keyboard: 'Bios' or 'operating System'. Choosing the first option if the mode pure DOS or compatible USB-non is often used is good. In all the cases in which the keyboard will be used only under an USB compatible operating system, is good setting up the second option, to reduce the hardware resources, and to avoid the emulation of the keyboard by the slowest Bios.
Hard Disk Integrated SCSI/IDE RAID Controller [Enabled/Disabled]
This option activates the raid supplemented in the mother card possible controller. The raid (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disk) functionality, crammed full line-up of economic discs, exploits two or more discs to reduce the deficiencies of an only disc. Is possible increase the performances, increase the safety of the data or both. Here the possible modes:
- Raid 0 o 'striping': uses two identical discs adding their capacities disc and doubles the transfer instalments with respect to that of an only one. The time of access he remains unchanged. Since the files come writings half on the first disc and half on the second disc, the safety of the data decreases datum which doubles the probability of malfunctions. The break of a disc involves the total loss of all the data in the line-up. - Raid 1 o 'mirroring': he uses two identical discs to double the safety of the data. On the two discs an identical copy of the files is written, so that the probability of a loss of the data be halved with respect to an only disc. However the performances and the capacity of the line-up are identical to an only disc. - Raid 0+1 o 'striping + mirroring': he uses four identical discs, combining the high performances of the striping and the safety of the mirroring. The first two discs are put in raid 0 mode, as like that as he finishes two: the line-up so obtained is at last put in modaltà raid 1. With respect to an only disc, the capacity and the transfer instalments doubles, while the time of access and the safety of the data remain unchanged.
IDE HDD Block Mode [Enabled/Disabled]
This option, if activated, he identifies the technology of trasfterimento of the disc and uses the best settings, significantly increasing the performances by hard disk. Not there is reason to keep this option deactivated if not with rigid disc incompatible units with one or more members of the system.
Onboard FDD Controller [Enabled/Disabled]
This option activates or the controller deactivates for the FDD (drive Floppy Disk). This option can be deactivated if one wishes not to use the Floppy Disk and therefore to free system resources. Never deactivating this option, to avoid problems is advisable.
Onboard Serial Port COM1 (o COM2) [3F8-IRQ4/2F8-IRQ3/3E8-IRQ4/2E8-IRQ3Auto/Disabled]
This option checks the address of I/O (Imput/Output) of the COM1 (COM2) serial door. The standard for the serial doors is also defined as RS232. If you do not use, the serial doors can be deactivated to free hardware resources. However if they do not have problems not modifying the option is advisable.
ATTENTION: in certain cases the operating system or the installation of the itself one some error messages can be produced. Remember to activate the serial doors if some peripherals which need the COM doors he adds are it removes or.
Onboard IR Function [Disabled/HPSIR/ASKIR]
This option checks the functionality of link to IR (Infra-Red) infrareds. Given the poor success of this standard, the predefinita setting does not activate these doors. IR Function Duplex: he sets up the transfer mode data. Half: communication in a direction at a time. Full: simultaneous communication in both the senses.
Onboard Parallel Port LPT [378-IRQ7/278-IRQ5/3BC8-IRQ7/Auto/Disabled]
This option checks the address of I/O of the LPT parallel door. If not used, the parallel door can be deactivated to free hardware resources. If the computer works correctly not modifying the option is advisable.
ATTENTION: in certain cases the operating system or the installation of the itself one some error messages can be produced. Remember to activate the parallel door if some peripherals which need the LPT doors he adds are it removes or.
Onboard Parallel Mode [Normal o SPPl/EPP/ECP/ECP+EPP]
This option selects the operating mode of the parallel door:
- SPP (Standard Parallel Port): setting recommended if the parallel door is used with the only printer - EPP (Extendex Parallel Port): setting recommended for peripherals full duplex - ECP (Extended Capabilities Port): setting specifies for particulars peripherals - ECP + EPP: some peripherals work correctly only with this mode - ECP Mode Use DMA: chooses the 1-3 DMA channel to improve the performances for the peripherals which use the parallel door in ECP mode or ECP+EPP - Parallel Port EPP Type: The use of the EPP 1.7 protocol chooses or EPP 1.9 to improve the compatibility with the peripheral. The EPP 1.7 setting is generally reserved to obsolete peripherals.
